Professor Stephen Peterson specializes in public financial management (PFM) and for more than 30 years has advised governments, instructed officials and graduate students in this field. A faculty member at Harvard University for 25 years, he developed and directed the University’s Executive Education Program in PFM, which trained over 1,600 senior government officials from 54 countries. He implemented two of the University’s overseas financial reform projects (8 years in Kenya and 12 years in Ethiopia).
The World Bank has judged Ethiopia’s PFM reform as one of the best in Africa over the past decade. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on public sector and PFM reform and holds a doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA in finance and accounting from UCLA.
