Students enrolled in the Master of Public Administration, or the Master of Public Administration (Enhanced) are permitted to undertake a semester of study abroad at the Graduate Institute, Geneva. Students have the opportunity to live and study at the institution established in the very heart of International Geneva, with its large number of diplomatic missions, international organisations and NGOs. Classes are taught in a bilingual English-French working environment, with a strong emphasis on classes taught in English and a unique opportunity for students to learn French or improve their language skills.

Students enrolled in the Master of Public Administration, or the Master of Public Administration (Enhanced) are permitted to undertake a semester of study abroad at SIRPA, Fudan in China.SIRPA is one of the leading Schools of Public Affairs in the world and presents students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of Chinese Public Policy and Administration. Students are able to take subjects in Chinese Politics and Democracy; International Public Policy; Public Management in Chinese Government and Governance; and, Comparative Politics.
Melbourne School of Government recognises the unique opportunities that students can experience internationally. Students can undertake independent programs (summer/winter school) at schools of government and public affairs, that are exchange partners with the University of Melbourne.
